Dog-Safe Thanksgiving Food
There's no fooling your dog's nose — it's Thanksgiving time for the WHOLE family! As you bustle around the kitchen getting ready for the biggest feast of the year, there's one furry family member you can't forget about.
Get your pup in on the Turkey Day feasting with these tasty dog-approved snacks:
Sweet Potato Puree
We know you have an extra sweet potato hiding in the back of the cupboard! Pull it out, wash it off, and make this snack for your pup to enjoy on Thanksgiving.
Simply cube the sweet potato, add it to a pot of water, and boil for 20 minutes. Once the cubes are nice and soft, mash them with a potato masher, or blend them with some water in the blender. Cool before serving to your dog.
Bonus: Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamins and minerals and will give your pup an extra nutritional boost!
Turkey Jerky
This is one recipe your dog will be grateful for! You'll need:
- ¼ to ½ cup olive oil (as needed)
- Chopped parsley
- Leftover, unseasoned turkey breast cut into thin strips
Add the ingredients to a mason jar and shake lightly before leaving it to marinate for a few hours. Then, line a baking sheet with the turkey strips and bake at 250 degrees for one hour. Once crispy, allow them to cool and store them in the fridge until it's time for your dog's dinner.
Pup-kin Pie
Every good boy or girl needs dessert! But don't worry, you don't have to spend a ton of time baking this pup-safe treat. Scoop a few spoonfuls of canned pumpkin puree onto a dish and top it with a small dollop of whipped cream!
Pumpkin is great for your dog's digestive system, and they'll go nuts for this creamy, yummy snack.
We know you love your pup, and they love you too! Show them just how thankful you are for them by letting them in on the Thanksgiving fun.
