Finding the “Franchise Fit”

The franchise industry is stronger than ever — a great fact for people interested in joining it. However, it also means that there are more businesses, companies, and industries to choose from if you’re interested in opening your own franchise.

If you’re thinking of joining the world of franchising, particularly the Camp Bow Wow family, below are a few questions that will help you determine if you’re making the right choice.

Do you compliment the franchise?

Franchises are like a partnership — though you’ll have to abide by certain rules set up by the franchise, you’re still in business for yourself. Because each party wants to see the other one succeed, it’s important to work together for the greater good of your location and the business as a whole.

Can you objectively realize your strengths and weaknesses?

We’d all like to think that we’re doggone amazing at everything we set our minds to but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. That being said, there’s always room for growth and improvement! So while you should be able to recognize areas you need practice in (such as customer service, inventory management, or scheduling) that, alone, shouldn’t deter you from pursuing your passion!

Are you passionate about the business? One of our most important rules here at Camp Bow Wow is that every franchisee must love dogs! Even as a franchisee, you’ll be working closely with Campers and your staff. If you don’t have a love for dogs and a desire to improve their quality of life, your passion for a Camp will probably lessen over time.

Can you devote the time needed to launch a franchise?

A big reason why people turn to franchising is because they’re looking to break away from their 9 – 5 and have more independence. That being said, franchisees have to put a lot of time and energy into starting their own location. Once your franchise is established, you can delegate certain responsibilities; however, the initial work is very time-consuming.
