We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — we love our franchisees and we’re convinced that there will never come a time where we’re not completely floored by their generosity. Take Suzette Fowler, owner of Camp Bow Wow Lafayette, for example. She saw an opportunity to help shelter dogs in need, and without even batting an eyelash, she took it!
Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control in Kaplan, Louisiana, recently found themselves in a puppy pickle. They were completely over capacity, with only outdoor kennels left vacant. The problem? It’s been absolutely frigid in the area, so outdoor kennels just would not do!In an attempt to find temporary foster families for the fourteen pups without a warm place to stay, Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control and Animal Aid for Vermilion Area, a nonprofit rescue group, reached out to their Facebook followers for help. Suzette saw their S.O.S., and did one better — she opened up the doors to her Camp and filled her empty kennels, instead.
“Suzette with Camp Bow Wow just stepped up and said, ‘I got space. Let’s get them indoors,'” recalled Macie Zoble, a volunteer for the Animal Aid for Vermilion Area.
Thanks to Suzette’s generosity and the hospitality of her staff, Camp Bow Wow Lafayette has 14 new Campers until other arrangements can be made.
“They’re all here, and they’re a little frightened. It’s a new environment for them, but they’re warm, and they’ll be given lots of love and attention and cared for,” Suzette told KATC TV 3. “So, as long as this cold weather is really brutal, they’re here to stay.”
Here at Camp Bow Wow, we’re so proud of our Camps nationwide and are thrilled to have been able to help these furry friends find a warm bed, and maybe even a forever home through adoption!
