It's time again to keep an eye out for those pesky canine lice! Here's a little rundown of what to look for and what we can all do to help out our pups at Camp and at home. Some signs of canine lice can include:
- excessive scratching and itchiness
- dry and flaky skin
- skin redness and irritation
- matted fur
- hair loss
If you notice any of these signs, we ask that you do not bring your pup to Camp until they are lice-free once again. Sometimes we get asked what we're doing at Camp to help keep the canine lice at bay. At Camp, we inspect pups every day, cleaning our grooming equipment and bedding after each Camper, and continuing with our daily Camp cleaning routine with hospital grade cleaners. We want to do all we can to keep our Campers healthy and happy as well! You may be wondering what you can do to help! We've come up with just a few ways you can help too: check your dogs (especially if they frequently take walks or hikes), speak with your vet and follow a preventative treatment plan, and wash all bedding and toys with hot water.
