Camp Bow Wow Albany's dog training services are designed to forge a healthy bond between you and your pup. Our premier dog training services offer variety, flexibility, and can cater to your dog’s specific needs. Our goal is to help you and your pup establish clear communication and enjoy working together. We believe training is a life-long process and should be both fun and challenging.
The training we offer is based on scientifically proven methodology and aligns with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®), the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and other established animal welfare organizations.

Training Program & Services
Regardless of age or experience, all dogs can benefit from learning. Whether your pup is starting out with the basics, you want to brush up on previously learned skills, or you’re ready to up the challenge with your pup, our training services can accommodate your needs.

Group Classes
Camp Bow Wow’s group classes include a variety of programs for all skill levels. Our obedience program is split into multiple levels, so pups start with the basics and increase the difficulty through each level as you and your dog progress. Other group classes include tricks, leash-walking skills, and more!
The three levels of group classes are:
- Level I—Basic: Builds the foundation of reliable commands like sit, down, leave it, come when called, and leash walking.
- Level II—Intermediate: Learn how to get your dog to heel by your side, go to their mat, and add distance plus distractions to all their behaviors.
- Level III—Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) Program Preparation and Exam: A two-part course designed to help you and your dog be the best you can be–together. Since 1989, over 1 million dogs and their owners have participated in CGC, mastering ten basic skills that instill confidence and good manners in and out of your home. - Canine Health and First Aid 101 Overview: Embark on a journey that delves into essential topics such as identifying common dog health issues, administering first aid, and understanding preventive care. From recognizing signs of illness to learning life-saving techniques in emergencies, this course equips you with the knowledge and skills to be a dog's health advocate. Sometimes it is necessary to treat your pets immediately, so it is essential to learn about the first aid kits and their applications. By giving proper treatment of first aid, you can prevent big injuries or can save your pets life. This is a 5 week course for $180 plus sales tax. Topics to be covered: Common Issues, Vitals, Restraining and Muzzling, Basic First Aid, Choking, CPR, Seizures, Bloat, and more!
- Intro to Scents 101 Overview: This class is designed as an introduction into the world of scenting. We will explore different methods in training your canine to begin identifying, searching, locating, and alerting to the source of a scent through games to entice your companion. Scent training your canine provides mental stimulation while letting them work more independently. Scent games strengthen your bond as a team. For dogs 6 months and older that are both people and dog friendly. Dogs should be comfortable and non- reactive in a group class setting. Each week there will be new search strategies, games, and treats. This is a 5 week course for $180 plus sales tax.
- Canine Behavior 101 Overview: Do you want to know what your canine is thinking, what they are feeling? This class is for you! Throughout the sessions we will explore canine body language, basic behaviors, and how we affect our canines. This is a human only class for individuals who would like to gain a better understanding of the canine world and how our canines are trying to communicate with us. Your canine is always giving you identifiers on how or why they are acting the way they are, you just have to listen! This is a 5 week course for $180 plus sales tax.
- Puppy Ownership 101 Overview: This class is designed to help you build an all around stable, happy puppy. Through the sessions we will explore puppy behaviors and tendencies, how to prepare them for vet and grooming experiences, managing manners, ways to provide mental and physical stimulation, as well mile-stones to strive for while your puppy grows. For puppies 1 year and younger that are both people and dog friendly. Dogs should be comfortable and non-reactive in a group class setting. This is a 5 week course for $180 plus sales tax.
In-Camp & Private Training
Camp Bow Wow Albany offers several options for pet parents who prefer their pup receives private training. Our Certified Trainers can work with your dog while they attend Camp, spending one-on-one time with them teaching behaviors you would like to work on. We can also provide training services for you and your dog in a private setting, based on your needs.
