What is the Pawsitive Start Jr. Program?
The Pawsitive Start Jr. Program is tailored for puppies between 4 months and 1 year, focusing on a structured routine of socialization, learning, play, and enrichment at Camp.
What is included in the Pawsitive Start Jr. Program?
It includes daily group playtime,a rotating Activity of the Day focusing on essential skills with and an emphasis on positive experiences, exposure to various new objects, opportunities to learn, and establishing a routine.
It also includes cabin enrichment with food puzzles,designated nap times, daily report cards, and educational handouts to help Pet Parents work with their pups at home.
When can I bring my puppy to Pawsitive Start?
All puppies between the age of 4 months and 1 year are eligible for the program. Pawsitive Start Jr. is sold as a package to help puppies stay on a weekly routine of coming to Camp and continuing their opportunities to learn, play,and continue their exposure to new or different objects.
Puppies age out of the program after 12 months and Pet Parents are encouraged to utilize Day Camp and Enrichment to keep up a similar routine.
Do I need a reservation for the Pawsitive Start Jr. Program?
Reservations are helpful so Camp can plan their Pawsitive Start Activities each day based on who is attending, however, they may not be required.
Can my puppy just do regular Day Camp?
Puppies are welcome to attend regular day camp any day they wish! However, we strongly encourage them to take advantage of the Pawsitive Start Jr. program while they are eligible. The program is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of puppies, which differ significantly from adult dogs, in terms of socialization, learning, and play.
What are the Pawsitive Start Jr. activities of the day?
Every day Pawsitive StartJr. is offered, Junior Campersget a 15-20 minute activitywith 2-4 Junior Campers. This small group activity focuses on rotating skills like different learning opportunities to practice good behavior, recess for play skills, and socialization with various different new objects.
What is Cabin Enrichment?
Cabin Enrichment involves activities like food puzzles,music, or stories designed for mental stimulation and relaxation. This can help Campers learn how to settle in, self regulate, and enjoy their rest time.
Please let us know at check-inif your pup can have our provided Cabin Enrichment snack. Pet Parents are also welcome to provide their own!
Why do the puppies get nap time?
Nap times are scheduled to ensure puppies have a chance to rest and recover, supporting healthy growth and development. Growing puppies need more sleep than adult dogs to help them thrive.
What if my Junior Camper comes to Camp on days when the Pawsitive Start Jr. Program isn’t offered?
Junior Campers attending day camp when Pawsitive Start Jr. isn’t available will receive group play and several nap breaks throughout the day to help them maintain the benefits of a play and rest schedule and normal routine.We also offer Cabin Enrichment over the midday nap to help Junior Campers settle in and enjoy their down time.
